Shaun Finn – Picnic In The Sunshine Review

One of Dublin’s newest musicians Shaun Finn has recently released his second single ‘Picnic in the Sunshine’ which is his follow up to his debut single ‘Live my Life’.

Growing up in Blanchardstown in west Dublin, Shaun started playing music when he was just 16 years of age. He wrote his first song within hours of learning his first chords. Shaun is a multi-instrumentalist and has played on big stages such as the grand social in Dublin. Over the years, Shaun’s song writing has become more influenced by the people who he was surrounded by. He takes some great inspirations from Dublin band The Coronas as well as the likes of Oasis, some of his lyrics and tones have quite a Noel Gallagher feel to them.

Shaun has played in multiple stages over the years as a session guitarist but only recently started to release music as part of his own solo project. His debut single ‘Live My Life’ managed to peak at number 13 on the Irish Charts.

His latest single ‘Picnic in the sunshine’ is much more different and more upbeat than his debut single ‘Live My Life’. On this release, Shaun opens the track with a soft, laid back acoustic feel before building up to a catchy chorus which follows heavy drums and guitar which add an element of rock to the track which really helps empowers the song and compliments Finns lyrics.

Shaun has used his routes of working in bands and has collaborated with Aaron McCarthy from the band Ringside Theatre and old friend Jack Clinton to create the beautiful and powerful track that is ‘Picnic in the Sunshine’.

A track that makes use of Shaun and Jacks different ranges to create an interesting vocal harmony. Shaun has really shown as experimental side to him by doing this and that he isn’t afraid to collaborate and find new sounds for his music with different artists.

Overall, ‘Picnic In The Sunshine’ is a very powerful, emotive and captivating track that is beautifully put together both musically and lyrically. It is Shaun’s best release to date and has been a huge favourite of ours. It’ll be the perfect tune to blast once these summer nights are back and we can see a few friends again!

“One day, I hope I’ll call you mine, we’ll have our picnic in the sunshine.”.

This is a very promising release from Shaun Finn and we already can’t wait to hear what’s to come from him next, he has promised new music for 2021 but for now get following him on all social media platforms and duet the song with him on TikTok as well as stream ‘Picnic In The Sunshine’ on all major streaming platforms.
