InBetween Honey – I'm Glad That It’s You Review

InBetween Honey are bursting back on to the Irish music scene with the release of their highly anticipated new single ‘I'm Glad That It’s You’ which is their follow up single from ‘One Home’ which was released late last year. (And what a tune that was!)

InBetween Honey are a 5 piece indie rock band from County Meath who have released 4 singles to date and have played numerous gigs including the Whelan’s Ones To Watch Festival 2020 and the Trailer Park stage at Electric Picnic 2019 so the band have some great experience with warming up a crowd and playing live! They have also renowned Irish stations such as RTE 2FM, Radio Nova and FM104. Now in 2021, they are all geared up for the release of their 5th single 'I'm Glad That It’s You’ and play their biggest headline show to date in Whelans, Dublin as well as release a four song EP towards the end of the year. The band consist of Dylan Hickey (Vocals), brothers JohnPaul (Guitar) and Matty Melady, Ciara McManus (Synths and backing vocals) and Blayne Moran.

Overall, ‘ I'm Glad That It’s You’ is an uplifting feel good tune and may just be the bands best release to date. They have certainly broken the barrier to their previous release ‘One Home’ and prove that they have been aiming to set that barrier even higher to achieve new levels of success and we think this track is going to bring them just that! The track is filled with the familiar synthy InBetween Honey sound with Dylan Hickey’s distinctive rocky vocals taking centre stage. Sharp, edgy and gripping guitar chords alongside brilliant drum fills create a sense of excitement and build a fantastic uplifting energy throughout the track. After the first listen, you won’t be able to get enough, this track knows how good it sounds and it’s impossible to dislike it. These guys know how to produce a catchy tune that also sounds massive and is ready to be played to big crowds at summer festivals. This track has got an extremely catchy beat that will have you tapping your toes for days! These guys are certainly good at their craft.

The song was recorded on the verge of yet another lockdown in October 2020 in the Clinic Recording Studios in Dublin by David Anthony Curley and mastered by Fergal Davis. The track is about noticing when someone’s around and being grateful it’s them and not somebody else. A deeply resonating story that we can all connect with during these times, whether it’s being grateful to be in lockdown with a lover, family or a really good friend, we can all resonate with this tune which reminds us of the ones we are grateful to be around with right now more than ever. We can all take a unique perspective from it and different meanings. It is a really lovely tune.

Dylan Hickey certainly knows how to captivate the listener with his heartfelt lyrics and strong capability to tell a story through his song-writing by being grateful to be around that special someone:

“I don’t know if I can take anymore, listening to Beatles when I’m 64 and it’s racing through my head, I’ve gone back to what she’s said.”

“What should I say, what should I do when all I think about is me and you,
these days there ain’t nothing to lose, when you come over I’m glad that it’s you.”

InBetween Honey have really outdone themselves with this track, it’s an instant mood booster filled with energy, love and warmth and superb harmonies. We already can’t wait to hear this song live, we can imagine it going down a treat!

And speaking of live performances, you can pick up tickets to see the band perform an exclusive livestream show from The Soundhouse in Dublin this Saturday to celebrate the single launch. Tickets are available from TheSoundHouse.ie and the show takes place this Saturday April 3rd at 7:30pm.

This is definitely a tune that you will have on repeat in your playlists, trust us!
Make sure to keep an eye on these guys, we are sure they’re gonna be releasing even bigger tracks in the near future.
