Fya Fox - White Lies Review

Fya Fox is a singer-songwriter from Ireland who is inspired by sparse electronic pop with emotive lyrical themes. This is clearly shown in her debut single ‘White Lies’ which it’s lyrics tell the story of a toxic situation and knowing when to walk away from it…a lot us ladies have probably been there with a few guys, especially from Tinder! 

Fya is heavily influenced by the likes of Lana Del Rey, London Grammar and even Irish artist Hozier. These influences create a wonderful blend that has led to Fya developing her stunning distinctive sound and captivating lyrics. There is even some elements of female Irish singer LYRA in the style of her vocals.

Overall the track is hauntingly beautiful with Fya’s powerful lyrics telling the story of how a situation was so toxic that she had to leave it in order to breathe and find herself again. Lyrically, it is an extremely empowering track with lyrics such as "You will never ever be the one to hold me back” and “I tell myself I’m better off without your white lies”. 

The instrumentation of the song really helps to emphasise Fya’s powerful message in the song about how she is finally moving forward, picking herself up and leaving all the bad behind!

We feel that this track would be the perfect soundtrack for anyone who deeply loves someone but has to give them up because they are nothing but toxic! This track will definitely get you on the right road to loving yourself, healing, moving forward and letting it all go…

It is truly a really flawless track with some chill vibes echoing through it, very well produced and beautifully written. You can almost feel Fya’s relief of letting go in the lyrics. 

This is only just the beginning for Fya and with a very strong release with ‘White Lies’, it is no doubt that this girl is ready to take on the music industry by storm, her potential shines throughout this track both lyrically and musically and there is no doubt that this girl is on to bigger and better things.

Even without an official release, Fya has featured on adverts for Brown Thomas and Barry’s Tea #Sister campaign which really showed off her capability to deliver soft and delicate tones. She has spent two years developing her unique and distinctive sound, evolving her songwriter skills and paving her path in the Irish music scene.

Fya is currently finalising a follow up release in early 2021, leading to an EP release. This talented lady is certainly one to watch out for, good job Fya!
