Ones To Watch

We are celebrating all things Irish music this week. There is a huge amount of talent from North, South, East and West on the island of Ireland all ranging from different genres.

We should be extremely proud to be from such a talented country filled with vibrant culture and music. So for the week that’s in it, we have put together a short list of some acts that we have been absolutely loving lately and are on our ones to watch list for 2021.

They are in no particular order as we love them all so much and really dig their sound, be sure to check them all out, you won’t regret it!

Villa In France

Villa in France are a 3 piece indie-rock band from the North Coast of Northern Ireland. They are consisted of lead singer Aidan Davidson, lead guitarist Nino Morelli and drummer Matthew Gillan. This talented bunch come together to create some of the most energetic songs that you have ever heard. They just create the most wonderful blend that we’re really digging.

Their most recent release ‘Faux Feelings’ has been a huge favourite in our Spotify playlists and has received a very positive reaction despite the guys releasing it during a global pandemic. It touches on themes of animal cruelty with animals being used for furs and also is the metaphor for a broken relationship which is quite an interesting take.

Unfortunately the guys had to cancel their Dublin Debut show last March but we look forward to catching them when they’re back on the road again, we’re sure it’ll be worth the wait. The band are also busy making new music over lockdown that will lead up to the formation of a highly anticipated EP which we are pretty hyped for.

Get streaming these guys, they prove they are one of the best bands in the Northern Irish Music Scene!

Tim Chadwick

Tim Chadwick is a singer/songwriter from Dublin. He just recently released his highly anticipated EP ‘Timothy’ which was released last Friday.

Tim produced this EP during the course of the current lockdown and the songs reflect a lot on himself. It is an EP which explores the themes of self-discovering, self-reflecting, loneliness, heartbreak and re-gaining confidence. Although some of these themes are quite sad, Tim really knows how to perfect a sad banger.

‘Favourite Song’ is the perfect definition of it, with just one listen you’ll know what we mean! This tune has been on repeat quite a lot in our playlists and we are sure it’s going to go down an even bigger treat once Tim is back doing what he loves most, performing!

 Ah gigs…remember them?!

Bobbi Arlo

Irish singer/songwriter Bobbi Arlo has really been making some noise lately with her latest single ‘Feel It’. It has already been a hit with major Irish stations such as FM104 and Spin South West. She has also received support from HotPress and GoldenPlec which has lead her to gain a loyal fanbase. This woman is making some serious waves and knows how to create a great pop tune!

She’s due to play Dublin’s Grand Social on 30th September 2021 and we are sure she’ll blow the roof off the place, we already can’t wait to hear what’s next from this girl, keep your eyes on her, she knows how to make a fire track!

ModernLove

Drogheda based band modernlove. have been one of our most favourite lockdown discoveries. They are a four piece indie pop/rock band which are consisted of lead singer Barry Lally, lead guitarist Graham Fagan, Bassist Daniel Rooney and drummer Cian McCluskey. They are a very synthy indie pop vibe, we think you’ll love these guys if you’re into The 1975 and Milk. They really know how to create an extremely catchy tune with their tracks such as ‘Liquorice’ and ‘Hard To Tell You’, you’ll be tapping your feet away after the first listen.

The guys have also played some big stages such as The Grand Social, Whelans and The Soundhouse. They are set to play Wild Roots festival this summer so fingers crossed all goes ahead! They are currently making new music which will be released very soon so be sure to keep an eye on these guys.

Lucy Blue

Irish London based singer/songwriter Lucy Blue has recently received a lot of talk from the Irish music industry following the release of her debut single ‘See You Later’.

With the likes of Kodaline and pretty much every other artist in the Irish music scene sharing her track to their Instagram story recently, she really has been the talk of the town and we have to say ‘See You Later’ really is a stunning and impressive debut release for the recently turned 18 year old.

She has also recently signed a record deal with Columbia Records so gear up for what this girl has planned. We heard an EP is in store!

Thom Southern

Thom Southern is a Northern Irish singer/songwriter who is now based in Liverpool.

His debut single ‘Shivers’ gripped our attention immediately over lockdown with his Ian Brown like vocals. Trust us, if you’re big into The Stone Roses and the Manchester/Liverpool music scene (He’s got some serious The La’s vibes going on!) then you need Thom’s music in those playlists of yours.

His song ‘Perfect Someone’ proves he knows how to captivate a listener and deliver a track full of emotion as he remises on a past lover after finding a photograph in an old jacket pocket and takes a trip down memory lane and realizes he’ll never find another moment like that than what he had with that person. Something that is so personal and is something a lot of us can relate to but have to move on from it.

Thom has also recently released a brand new track called ‘Soul Singer’ which proves that this man really can’t create one bad song and is sticking to his trend of creating big bold bangers. 2021 will be big for this guy!

Brad Heidi

Brad Heidi is a Galway based singer/songwriter. His recent EP ‘The First’ shot straight to number 1 on the iTunes chart and he has also had a lot of support from HotPress which has helped him gain a very loyal and large fanbase.

Brad is always working on the next biggest thing and spends his time busking the streets of Galway. His lyrics are beautiful, emotional, captivating and full of passion. Brad’s sound would probably be best described as an Irish Ed Sheeran, he really knows how to perfect the most stunning acoustics with his distinctive vocals.

This guy is always working hard at his craft and is definitely one to watch in 2021.

Roseena

Roseena has been one of the most recent new artist discoveries for us. She is quite the talented 17 year old and hails from the west of Ireland.

She proves she is set for huge potential with the recent release of her debut single ‘Undecided’ which is a highly impressive and both a stunning track with haunting, soft vocals followed by a delicate acoustic vibe with lyrics that will really resonate with the listener.
