Burden - Single and Music Video Review

Aaron J is a fresh upcoming Irish songwriter and rapper. Aaron auditioned for Ireland’s got talent back in 2018 in which he sang his original song ‘Show Pain’ for his audition. He managed to make it all the way to the final but narrowly missed out on the winning title.

 Now, Aaron is ready to release his long-awaited single ‘Burden’. The song which released yesterday titled Burden, is a heart-wrenching banger. 

Aaron writes about the reality and emotions of heartache and depression. He states how we may carry everything with us, like the negative memories and past but we refuse to let this break us. This song draws on some heartfelt and nostalgic vibes reminding listeners of when you’re going through a difficult time and all you need is for someone to relate to your situation. 

The song is perfect to listen to when you want to be reminded that you’re stronger than you think. This is a song that provides a voice for those that that feel they don't have one. It’s real and relatable. Despite the fact that it’s a personal song for Aaron, it will resonate with a lot of people as most find themselves in this situation at least once. 

The passion can be heard in his voice when signing this song as it's an emotional one, which just adds to it. The lyrics used are spine tingling and the fluidity of the song is like the calmness of the ocean waves as well as the effortless change to singing a stripped back chorus. The song is so reassuring and emotional but is also one you would jam out to when you’re having drinks with your friends.  It’s an upbeat tune however, it carries every emotion which he manages to bring to the surface. 

The setting of the music video in which it was directed by Nathan Sheridan, emphasises the meaning of the song. How it’s a run down area but is still standing. It’s a haunting and dark video, however it’s immensely captivating and intertwines with the song. Both Aaron and Nathan tell a story between the incredible song from Aaron and the emotionally intense video from Nathan. Coming together to create the art that is now Burden.
